The children in year 4 learnt about how light a significant symbol is across many religions and what it means to different people. Your lamps are brilliant!

What a wonderful morning visit to St. Cuthbert’s Church for a Christmas service introduced by Referend Cowen and then performed by the pupils in year 5. We’re extremely proud of your communication skills and willingness to perform. Well done, year 5!

The children learnt about the Hindu festival of Holi. We discussed why and how Holi is celebrated and the children were fascinated by all the colours and rituals!

We were so lucky to welcome our ex-Bricknell pupil, Imam Yusuf, from Pearson’s Park Mosque. He came to talk to the whole school about Ramadan. Following on from the informative assembly, Imam did an excellent question-and-answer session with KS1. A huge thank you, Imam Yusuf!

Many of our confident children, who are members of the Islamic Faith, from across the school took part in an assembly to share how they’d celebrated Eid. Some of the children even shared their clothing, aretefacts and photographs with the whole of Key Stage Two. Don’t they look fantastic! Bivon and his mum created and delivered an informative assembly about the Buddhist Festival of Vesak. They reminded us of the key Buddhist beliefs, what Vesak Day celebrates and talked us through the rituals involved in this important celebration in the Buddhist calendar. We were very grateful and proud of Bivon (and his mum, too!)
