Our school library
Our school library has recently undergone a wonderful renovation and is now an exciting space for all our children to enjoy. We’ve added a fantastic reading treehouse where children can climb up, relax, and dive into their favourite books, as well as cosy seating areas throughout the library. Whether they want to sit on a beanbag, find a quiet corner, or explore the treehouse, there are plenty of comfortable spots for every child to settle down with a good book.
The library is an important part of school life, and we ensure that all our classes have regular access to it throughout the week. Additionally, the library is open every playtime, giving children the chance to pop in and explore new books whenever they want. We also offer two special library clubs: the Bricknell 100 club, which runs at lunchtime, and an after-school library club where children can spend more time discovering new stories and sharing their love of reading with friends.
Our Bricknell 100 is a reading challenge designed especially for our Key Stage 2 pupils. We’ve put together a list of 100 fantastic books, chosen from a variety of recommended reading lists, to inspire and engage our young readers. These books cover a wide range of genres and themes, offering something for everyone. We encourage our pupils to read as many of these books as they can during their time at Bricknell, helping to foster a lifelong love of reading.
