Promoting reading across the school

At Bricknell Primary School, we promote a love of reading throughout the entire school, providing dedicated and creative reading areas for every key stage.

In EYFS, we have cosy reading dens where our youngest learners can enjoy books in a comfortable, inviting environment.

In Key Stage 1, children have access to a reading canopy area, complete with a wide selection of books, story baskets filled with props, and story stones that help inspire them to create their own imaginative tales.

For Key Stage 2, we offer shared reading areas where pupils can explore a variety of genres, engage in group reading, and enjoy a more collaborative reading experience. These reading spaces are designed to foster a love of stories and help every child develop their reading skills.

‘We are very happy with Bricknell as a whole.  He is becoming more confident and is well supported.  Thank you to all of the teachers.’
