World Book Day 2025

World Book Day 2025 was celebrated in style today! Imagine, one minute you’re speaking to a pirate and the next you’re comparing wands with a wizard. The whole school was buzzing with excitement!

During our whole school assembly, the staff shared their amazing costumes with the children. Phonic sounds, the cast of The Wizard of Oz and characters from Harry Potter filled the stage. EYFS were even taken over by aliens wearing underpants! It was an assembly to be remembered!

During the day, we brought stories to life. Some classes described their favourite books and the characters found within the pages. Other classes created their own stories and shared them with pupils from other year groups as well as taking part in the CBBC Live Lesson. Other pupils created amazing artwork inspired by their characters.

We were lucky enough to be joined by the internationally published Author and Illustrator, Andy Sanders who delivered two informative and exciting assemblies. Andy shared his stories with the children, told them how he created them, where he got his ideas and even gave the children tips on how to write their own. One lucky pupil even won a copy of one of Andy’s books.

The day concluded with a book signing with Andy. It felt like we were meeting a real-life superhero! Everyone left with a smile and a book filled with inspiration, ready to dive into new adventures.

It was a day that reminded us that reading isn’t just something you do; it’s an amazing adventure you can go on every day!

A big thank you to the entire Bricknell school community who made this day a roaring success!
