Year 1 – PE
Year One began the term by focusing on key physical milestones, including throwing, catching, and kicking a ball. These activities have helped the children develop essential motor skills, coordination, and control. Alongside this, the focus has been on invasion games and dance and movement. In their invasion games unit, the children have been learning rugby, where they have concentrated on the skill of defending. Through teamwork exercises and strategic play, they have demonstrated excellent determination and cooperation, improving their understanding of defending space and working collaboratively.
In the dance and movement unit, pupils have explored rhythm, patterns, and creative expression. They have enjoyed using movement to tell stories and create sequences, developing their confidence and spatial awareness. These sessions have encouraged creativity while enhancing their physical coordination and understanding of movement. Year One has shown great enthusiasm and progress this term, laying a strong foundation in teamwork, physical skills, and self-expression.
