Year 2: Facilities required by different types of communities
Overall Objective: To explore and understand the facilities required by different types of communities such as villages, towns, and cities, and to explain why these facilities are important based on the population size and community needs. Additionally, to compare and contrast two different areas by analysing sets of data, highlighting the similarities and differences in infrastructure, services, and population needs.
Learning Outcome: Pupils will be able to describe the essential facilities needed in a village, such as shops, schools, transport links, and healthcare, and explain why these are important for the people living there. They will also be able to identify and explain the similarities and differences between two areas (e.g., a village and a city) by using data related to population, available services, and infrastructure, and will demonstrate an understanding of how the size and needs of a community affect the types of facilities it requires.
