Year 2 – PE

In Year 2, PE lessons this term have centred around Dance and Movement as well as Invasion Games, with a particular focus on Tag Rugby. The Dance and Movement sessions have encouraged pupils to explore dynamics in their movements, understanding how speed, strength, and flow can be varied to enhance a performance. They have also worked on mirroring skills, learning to synchronise their movements with a partner to create expressive and coordinated sequences. These lessons have helped develop their creativity, rhythm, and confidence in using movement to convey ideas.

In their Tag Rugby unit, Year 2 have been building fundamental skills for the game. Pupils have practised the correct grip and carry of the ball, learned how to score a try, and improved their reaction times and evasion techniques. They have also worked on passing, catching, and defending, becoming familiar with the role of a defensive line. These activities have not only strengthened their technical abilities but also emphasised teamwork, spatial awareness, and strategic thinking, providing a strong foundation for invasion games in the future.
