Year 3 – PE

The focus for Year 3 this term has been on invasion games and gymnastics, with a variety of skills being developed across both units. In their football sessions, as part of the invasion games unit, pupils have been working on applying tactics and cooperation skills during gameplay. They have been practising strategic passing, positioning, and teamwork to improve their understanding of how to attack and defend as a team. These activities have helped to build their confidence and decision-making skills on the pitch, with great enthusiasm and teamwork demonstrated by all.

In gymnastics, Year 3 have been concentrating on building strength and control to perform precise balances. They have worked particularly hard on using tension in their bodies to maintain stability while practising balances on both the floor and a bench. The children have also explored creative ways to perform “point and patch” balances, combining different body parts to produce dynamic routines. These sessions have not only developed their physical control and flexibility but also encouraged creativity and focus, with pupils enjoying the challenge of experimenting with new shapes and movements.
