Year 4 – PE

In PE this term, Year 4 have been focusing on invasion games and gymnastics, developing a range of technical skills across both areas. In gymnastics, the children have been exploring counterbalances and refining their jumping techniques, concentrating on precision, control, and creativity. They have worked collaboratively to create sequences that incorporate balanced movements and transitions, challenging their strength, coordination, and teamwork. These activities have not only improved their physical ability but also encouraged creativity and confidence in performing routines.

Within their invasion games unit, the focus has been on hockey, where Year 4 have been practising essential skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and tackling. They have also explored strategic elements of gameplay, including attacking and defensive techniques, while becoming familiar with the rules of hockey. Through small-sided games and drills, the pupils have demonstrated great enthusiasm, teamwork, and perseverance as they worked to improve their accuracy and tactical awareness. This term’s PE lessons have provided a solid foundation for further development in both gymnastics and team sports.
