Year 5 – PE

This term, Year 5 have been focusing on gymnastics and invasion games, developing key skills in both areas. In gymnastics, the children have worked on balance and control, creating a challenging 13-part sequence that showcases a variety of skills. This includes a shoulder balance, V-sit, partner mat and bench balance, and a pike jump. Through these activities, the pupils have built strength, coordination, and confidence, as well as an ability to collaborate effectively with their peers to refine and perform their sequences.

In their invasion games unit, the focus has been on netball. Pupils have been practising essential skills such as finding space, maintaining possession of the ball, and executing accurate shots. They have also worked on applying these techniques in game scenarios, building their understanding of teamwork, strategy, and positioning. The children have shown great determination and enthusiasm, developing both their technical skills and their ability to work cohesively as a team. This term’s PE lessons have provided a fantastic platform for building both physical and tactical abilities.
