The Reception day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm. We have an hour for lunch (11.30am to 12.30pm).
The Reception Unit is a flexible space within the main school building and accommodates 3 classes of 30 children and a dedicated outdoor area. At times we are within our separate classes with a teacher and Nursery Nurse in each, but at other times we open up our large dividing doors and operate as one. 90 children sounds a lot but our high quality provision and environment (indoors and out) gives them plenty of space to actively learn, experiment, create, test, talk, play, think and enjoy.
Every week, we invite parents into school to participate in different sessions including, reading, writing, number and topic based activities. Each half term, we hold a curriculum afternoon to share our current learning and initiatives with parents so that they have a good understanding of how they can support their child at home. Specific dates are on the half termly newsletters.
Please note: Places in our Reception class are allocated by the Local Authority and attending our Nursery does not automatically mean a place will awarded. If you would like to visit our Reception classes prior to making an application to the Local Authority, please ring the school office on 493208 to make an appointment.
